Bearskin Cap
Bearskin cap (“bearskin”; French: “bonnet à poil” or “ourson”), the counterpart of the grenadier mitre preferred by Catholic troops for infantry grenadiers, grenadiers à cheval de la garde impériale, and elite soldiers of the dragoon regiments (“dragons d‘élite”, horse grenadiers). The bearskin cap differs in shape and size from the kolpak, which was mainly worn by elite soldiers of the cavalry and horse artillery.
