Leibfahne Sovereign’s Colours

Leibfahne sovereign’s colours After the Thirty Years War many European states established standing armies to protect their territories. Regiments were uniformed, and they received flags of a standardized design with various base colours chosen to differentiate one regiment of the army from another. The 1st or Leib-Kompanie carried the sovereign’s colours, the other companies of the regiment received company colours or Ordinärfahnen as they were called in some German states.
