Ivory Black
Pigment Black 9
Ivory black (bone black, burnt ivory, Ebur ustum, Kassel or Cologne black), consists of ivory waste or tubular bones that have been charred in the absence of air, is pure black and, when powdered, washed out and dried, gives a nicely opaque oil paint. Commercially available ivory black is typically bone charcoal.
