Corbie Step.

Corbie step (Ger. Katzentreppen), the stepped gables of medieval buildings, especially the Gothic architectural style. The Renaissance decorated the corners with spiral-shaped decorations called volutes. The illustrations shows corbie steps on medieval buildings in Altenburg Castle.
