German 20 mm Quad FlaK 38 Self-Propelled on Opel Blitz Truck

ESCI 1:72 Scale Artillery Review

German 20 mm Quad FlaK 38 Self-Propelled on Opel Blitz Truck, with Luftwaffe crew, 1:72 Model Kit ESCI 8366.

ESCI 2 cm FlaK-Vierling 38 Sfl. mounted on an Opel Blitz truck, and attended by Luftwaffe crew figures. The anti-aircraft gun is not permanently attached to the truck, it may be dismounted and deployed in an anti-aircraft emplacement or on a support weapon stand compatible with the Crossfire game system. The truck has a separate canvas tilt which may be used to instantly convert the vehicle from an anti-aircraft platform to a cargo truck. This model of the FlaK-Vierling 38 has been upgraded, using 1:72 scale turned brass barrels available from Micro RealistiXX, which are much thinner and look more realistic than the original plastic barrels supplied with the ESCI kit.

Evaluation

Good value for money, this kit combines the Opel Blitz 3.6-36S Cargo Truck and the ESCI model of the 2 cm L.112.5 FlaK-Vierling 38.

Compatible with Hasegawa, Italeri, Revell, and CDC.

The Opel Blitz truck included in the ESCI kit of the 2 cm L.112.5 FlaK-Vierling 38 Sfl. may double as a cargo truck when it is not used to transport the anti-aircraft gun. The flak model and the separate canvas tilt may be used to indicate the truck in one role or the other.
