Soviet Fighter Aircraft Polikarpov I-16 Type 18 (Rata)
The Polikarpov I-16 fighter aircraft was introduced in 1934 and it served in the Sowjet Airforce until 1943. The I-16 fighter was nicknamed "Rata" (Rat) by Spanish nationalist forces and their German and Italian allies who encountered the highly successful aircraft during the Spanish Civil War. Spanish republican troops, on the other hand, called the I-16 aircraft "Mosca" (Fly). The officer next to the aircraft is from the Soviet Infantry figure set manufactured by Revell.
