Rifle Green

Humbrol Authentic Colour MC3

Rifle Green, Humbrol Authentic Colour MC3.

Humbrol Authentic Colour MC3 »Rifle Green«, the desaturated dark green coat and facing colour of British rifle regiments (95th Rifles, 60th Rifles, Gurkha Rifles, etc.), light infantry (King’s Own Yorkshire Light Infantry, The Royal Green Jackets, etc.), as well as those allied Jäger battalions and reserve regiments that were issued green uniforms of British manufacture in the course of the Napoleonic Wars.

Humbrol MC3 »Rifle Green« was discontinued a long time ago, but RAL 6028 »Pine Green« is a very good alternative. We mix our own »Rifle Green« from Lascaux 955 »Olive Green«, Golden 1415 »Zinc White« and PRIMAcryl 13.792 »Ivory Black« at a ratio of 8:4:1. As an alternative to Lascaux 955 »Olive Green«, Vallejo 71.014 »Gunship Green« can be used for this mixture.

Humbrol MC3 »Rifle Green« is not much darker than Humbrol 30 »Dark Green«, which is why it is less suitable for the later, almost »Black Green« uniform of the Rifles. We mix our own »Black Green« from equal parts of PRIMAcryl 13.431 »Indigo« and 13.205 »Lemon Yellow«. Humbrol MC3 »Rifle Green«, too, appears to have been replaced by Humbrol 91 »Black Green«.
