Rubber Mat 2 mm
“Orange Peel”
Karat SBR Rubber Mat Review
Old cobblestone pavement made of 2 mm SBR rubber mat “Orange Peel” sold by Karat. The rubber mat was cut into 1,5 × 10 inch strips to be used as rural roads.
Evaluation
The “Orange Peel” surface texture of Karat‘s SBR rubber mat is reminiscent of polygonal paving, as was used in ancient times to build Roman roads and pave squares.
SBR rubber mat can be cut with a ruler and cutter. It lies completely flat, adapts to contours of the terrain, and does not slip. We use artists‘ acrylics to paint SBR rubber mats; see our tutorial “Old cobblestone”, Rubber Mat 2 mm “Orange Peel”, Karat.
SBR rubber mats from Karat are advertised as “low odor”, but even a relatively tolerable “rubber smell” can be quite annoying in the long run. This may be remedied by painting and then varnishing the front and back.
