Retinue

Retinue.

Retinue (comitatus), people who escort and serve a ruling prince, other members of a ruling family, or high-ranking civil and military officials. The military retinue of the German Emperor consists of an adjutant general spokesman and head of the military cabinet, an adjutant general and commander of the headquarters, generals à la suite and aides-de-camp. The Leibgendarmerie is commanded by an adjutant general, the Schlossgardekompagnie by an aide-de-camp. The retinue also included an admiral à la suite, head of the naval cabinet. The kings of Bavaria, Württemberg and Saxony have correspondingly smaller entourages.
