60 cm Infrared Searchlight on sWS, armoured
ROCO 1:87 Scale Vehicle Review
This ROCO 1:87 scale schwere Wehrmachtsschlepper (sWS) heavy military tractor with applique armour and 60 cm infrared searchlight appears to be a fictional vehicle model, of which there are several model kits, but no historical photos. The basic model of the sWS tractor with applique armour for the 15 cm Panzerwerfer 42 (ROCO 131) was only ever built experimentally in the form of two prototypes. Accordingly, this IR searchlight on sWS could only have been an experimental setup. The Wehrmacht vehicles actually equipped for night fighting were Pz.Kpfw. V “Panther”, a good 60 Sd.Kfz. 251/20 “Uhu”, and a similar number of Sd.Kfz. 251/20 “Falke”.
Thanks to its futuristic design, this armoured sWS tractor with infrared searchlight is probably best suited for science fiction wargames.
