Light Armored Car M8 “Greyhound”

The ROCO 1:87 scale light armored car M8, 6x6, is a cheap and readily available wheeled armoured reconnaissance vehicle for simulation games. The vehicle was fast and quiet, but its limited off-road performance became immediately apparent during its first campaign in Sicily in 1943.
Captured M8 armoured cars continued to serve in reconnaissance units of the Wehrmacht; for example, four M8s were incorporated into the newly formed Panzer Brigade 150, which was to take a leading role in Operation Greif, a false flag operation meant to surprise US troops in the Ardennes.
After the war, many M8 armoured cars were sold or donated to the armed forces of other countries, some of which are still in service today. The West German Bundesgrenzschutz (BGS) Federal Border Guard received 50 geschützte Sonderwagen (SW) M8, which had had their turreted 37 mm gun replaced by a heavy machine gun or a 2 cm autocannon.
