M48A1 Medium Tank, 1:100 Roskopf 102.

The Roskopf 1:100 scale model of the M48A1 represents the US Army medium tank introduced in 1955, with 90 mm gun and the new commander‘s cupola M1 for the .50 cal. M2 Browning machine gun.

Evaluation

Excellent choice of subject, the M48A1 is unique in this scale.

Sold fully assembled, ready to play, the model is largely free of mould lines and sprue.

Good value for money, antique Roskopf M48A1 medium tanks can be found on the internet and at flea markets for a small price.

The length and width of the tank are correct; however, at only 2.70 m height, the silhouette of this M48A1 is 40 cm lower than the original.

The engine cover of the M48A1 was replaced during the conversion of the vehicles to the diesel-powered M48A3 with a new, raised cover featuring the typical exhaust grille at the rear. The front track guards are straight, but should be rounded on the M48A1. Grab handles on the turret are only suggested, and the T-shaped muzzle brake and the stowage box at the rear of the turret are missing.

Compatibel with Battlefront Miniatures (Flames of War, Team Yankee), Essex Miniatures, Eureka Miniatures, Forged in Battle, Irregular Miniatures, Old Glory, Peter Pig, Plastic Soldier Company, Skytrex (Command Decision), Wargames Factory, Quality Castings, Quick Reaction Force (QRF), Zvezda, and similar 15/18 mm or 1:100 scale miniatures.

The Roskopf M48A1 medium tank is an acceptable and robust wargame model of the widely used US Army and NATO medium tank.
