Schlussleuchte
Schlussleuchten (Ger. rear lights, Tarnschlussleuchten blackout taillights), signaling devices mounted on the rear of vehicles to alert following road users to a vehicle ahead, thereby reducing the risk of rear-end collisions. Red light is generally required for these rear lights.
Section 53, Paragraph 1 of the German Straßenverkehrs-Zulassungs-Ordnung (StVZO) road traffic licensing regulations stipulates that motor vehicles and their trailers must be equipped with two sufficiently effective rear lights emitting red light. Motorcycles without sidecars, however, only require one rear light.
