Soutien

Soutien.

Soutien (French, pron. ßutjäng), support, assistance, backup; militarily as much as formed support, the formation held back behind a skirmish line, which may be deployed into the firefight if required; instead of “Soutien”, the term “Unterstützung” (German, support) is now used [1906] to designate the (initially) held back element of a company in action.
