Tatra T-57K Staff Car – Kübelsitzer
Attack 1:72 Scale Vehicle Review
The Tatra T-57K is an improved version of the earlier Tatra T-57a Kübelsitzer which was produced from 1936 to 1941. The early Reichswehr Kübelsitzer was a militarized commercial vehicle with simple bucket seats and open sides. Later versions received half doors and removable side window frames to protect the crew from inclement weather. The Kübelwagen was deployed as a command and reconnaissance car, and it served in a variety of light transport roles. Motorcycle infantry units of the Wehrmacht also knew the Kübel as Kradschützen-Ersatzwagen, a replacement for motorcycle combinations. The model shown here has been painted in a Panzergrau camouflage colour.

Evaluation
Excellent choice of subject, the Tatra T-57K is unique in this scale.
Scale model with good detail.
Only 37 parts, the T-57K Kübelsitzer is easy to build.
Choice of open or closed top.
The clear plastic sheet included in the kit needs to be carved to fit inside the windshield frame.
Compatible with AER, ESCI, Hasegawa, Revell, Cooperativa, and SKIF.
No driver or passenger figures included in the kit.
The painting instructions recommend certain AGAMA, Tamiya and Humbrol paint numbers, but the three-colour pattern is not easy to figure out from the drawing.
The doors may not be cut open easily. Separate parts would have been more attractive.
This model of the Tatra T-57K Kübelsitzer staff car is an excellent alternative to the other Kfz. 1 variants which are more readily available to wargamers and diorama builders.
