Graphite Grey RAL 7024
»Graphite Grey RAL 7024« compared to Golden 104 »Carbon Black« and Revell 3610.9 »Anthracite Grey RAL 7021«, the equivalent of the »Dark Grey RAL 7021« base colour for large equipment (Großgerät) of the Wehrmacht introduced in 1937.
»Dark Grey RAL 7021« was apparently stretched with cheap white pigment during the war1, which is why the lighter »Graphite Grey RAL 7024« can definitely be considered “Panzer Grey”. Lighter shades of grey like Vallejo 71.052 »Anthracite Grey RAL 7016« and Tamiya XF-63 »German Grey« may also be used for this purpose. Of course, for our modelling purposes, the original colour »Dark Grey RAL 7021« needs to always be tinted with white if we are aiming for proper aerial perspective.
