Hoplon
Hoplon (Greek), weapon; hence pan(h)oplia, the complete set of arms, consisting of shield, armour, helmet, greaves, spear, sword, etc., which a hoplite had to provide for himself.
Hoplon has crept into some languages as an erroneous term for the hoplite‘s large round shield, which is correctly called an aspis.
