Khaki Drill
Humbrol Authentic Colour HM8
Humbrol HM8 »Khaki Drill« compared to Vallejo 70.988 »Khaki« and 70.614 »IDF Sand Grey 1961–1973«.
The painting guide of Matchbox P-5005 British 8th Army recommended Humbrol HM8 »Khaki Drill« as the base colour for the Khaki Drill Uniform worn in North Africa. This relatively dark shade may be tinted with white or beige to account for the fact that uniforms faded quickly under desert conditions.
Humbrol HM8 »Khaki Drill« is no longer available, but the colour is actually quite easy to mix from scratch. See our tutorial “How to Mix Historic Colours: Khaki Drill”, Humbrol HM8.
