Livery
Livery (French livrée), in France originally the uniformed clothing, which kings and princes used to provide free of charge to all members of their retinue on ceremonial occasions (livrer). When the custom died out, the name livrée remained in use for the clothing of servants.
The tambour of the Corps de Chasseurs attached to Berchény Hussars, pictured above, is wearing the livery of the chef of his regiment.
