Long Land Pattern Musket
The Long Land Pattern Musket, popularly known as “Brown Bess”, was the British Army‘s standard infantry musket from 1722 to 1793. It was supplemented by the Short Land Pattern Musket from 1768, and superseded by it in 1793. The Brown Bess was issued to line infantry, light infantry, rangers, militia, Native American allies and Loyalist Forces of the British Army.
The converted Airfix 1:76 scale British Fusilier above has been given a longer than usual bayonet, to extend his musket to the 28 mm equivalent of a Long Land Pattern Musket with fixed 17-inch bayonet.
