Small arms, man-portable, individual-operated firearms, as opposed to edged weapons, team-operated firearms, automatic cannons, and artillery. The photo shows Hessian grenadiers with flintlock muskets during an 18th century reenactment at Chateau Fasanerie in Eichenzell near Fulda.
