Portepee
Portepee (Ger.; Fr. porte-épée), a silver or gold sword knot worn by officers and Portepee-Unteroffiziers (comprising the ranks of Feldwebel and Fähnrich as well as senior civil servants). The woolen sword knot worn by other NCOs and junior officials is termed a Säbeltroddel, while the version used by mounted troops is called a Faustriemen.
