Evaluation

Excellent choice of subject, British Paratroopers are very popular with collectors and wargamers alike. Revell offers a number of useful wargaming poses like the standing machine gunner and signaller, but the opportunity to add advancing 2″ mortar and PIAT teams, or an attractive officer was missed.

The paratroopers are wearing the Denison smock over their battledress, and 1937 pattern web equipment in battle order. Unfortunately, the infantry webbing set is incomplete, nobody is equipped with a water bottle or respirator.

British Paratroopers, 1:72 Revell 02509.

The Bren light machine gun, Sten Gun, and SMLE rifles in this set are properly sculpted, unlike those given to the earlier ESCI British Paratroopers which were made much too large to be compatible with 1:72 scale.

Royal Marine Commandos, 1:72 Revell 02509 conversion.

Revell British Paratroopers converted into British Royal Marine Commandos by replacing the airborne steel helmet with a Brodie tin hat or commando beret.

Historical Employment

  • British and Commonwealth Paratroopers, 1942–1945
  • British Sniper Teams

Possible Conversions

Revell British Paratroopers are a welcome addition to the existing range of 1:72 scale miniatures, especially because their weapons and equipment are sculpted to scale.
