ROCO 1:87 Scale Vehicle Review
The ROCO 1:87 scale Munitionsträger “Hummel” ammunition carrier is a 15 cm schwere Panzerhaubitze “Hummel” without main armament, but with additional ammunition racks for 90 cartridges and shells for the 15 cm sFH 18/1 L/30 howitzer in an open-topped fighting compartment. The gun port in the front armour of the superstructure was closed with an additional armour plate. If a 15 cm heavy self-propelled howitzer “Hummel” was irreparably damaged, the 15 cm sFH 18/1 could be mounted on an ammunition carrier “Hummel” instead, allowing this vehicle to continue operating as a 15 cm schwere Panzerhaubitze “Hummel”.
This ROCO minitanks model comes with a Panzerscheinwerfer, rack jack, antenna mount, spare track links and road wheels, Rundblickfernrohr 18 gun sight, and interior ammunition rack, but the Abstandsrücklicht of the Kfz-Nachtmarschgerät is missing.
The 3rd Battery of the Panzerartillerieregiment of a Panzerdivision was equipped with six Panzerhaubitzen “Hummel” self-propelled howitzers and two Munitionsträgern „Hummel“ ammunition carriers, which typically translates to two “Hummel” SP howitzers and one “Hummel” ammunition carrier in popular simulation games.
