Semovente da 75/18

The Semovente da 75/18 was an Italian assault gun conversion mounting the 75 mm L.18 Modello 34 mountain howitzer on the casemated chassis of a Carro Armato M13/40 medium tank. The Ansaldo M13/40 tank was weakly armoured, underpowered, and therefore already obsolete upon its introduction. To make up for these shortcomings, Italian tank battalions received a minimum of one battery of Semovente da 75/18 self-propelled guns to serve alongside their M13/40 tanks.
