Fallschirmjägerbluse M40
Smock, Paratrooper
The German Fallschirmjägerbluse M40 Paratrooper Smock, grünmeliert, was worn over the paratrooper‘s uniform and equipment for jump duty. This was to prevent the parachute lines from snagging the equipment and causing a parachute malfunction. After landing, the assault pack was put on over the “Bonesack”.
In 1942, the British Army adopted a similar Smock, Denison (Airborne Troops), and the US Marine Corps introduced its step-in pattern Parachutist‘s Jump Smock in 1943.
