Star Wars Imperial Stormtroopers

Imperial Stormtrooper from the Star Wars Miniatures Game.

Surviving Clone Troopers of the Grand Army of the Republic were renamed Imperial Stormtroopers by Supreme Chancellor Palpatine’s Declaration of a New Order in 19 BBY. These original clones of Jango Fett were heavily reeinforced by three batches of new stormtrooper clones grown from other DNA sources, as well as human stormtrooper recruits who had been admitted to the Stormtrooper Corps from 9 BBY, and who provided the officers and NCOs of the corps. Stormtroopers formed an elite corps of their own, under the direct control of the Emperor.

Imperial Stormtroopers wore white plastic body armor similar to Phase II Clone Trooper armor, and they were armed with the BlasTech E-11 standard blaster rifle as well as the SE-14r sidearm. Heavy Stormtroopers used DLT-19 heavy blaster rifles, and DLT-20A blaster rifles with sniper scopes. Every Stormtrooper carried a cylindrical thermal detonator attached to the small of his back.

The Stormtrooper effect, also known as Stormtrooper syndrome, is a cliché named after the Imperial Stormtroopers who are unrealistically ineffective in combat against Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, Princess Leia, and other Star Wars heroes. Despite their thorough military training, excellent firepower, and overwhelming numbers, Imperial Stormtroopers never seem to hit any of the Star Wars protagonists.
