Historical Employment
- US Army, 1941 to 1953
Due to Allied air supremacy in late World War II, the need to deploy heavy anti-aircraft guns on the battlefield was eliminated. Consequently, the demand for anti-aircraft prime movers was lower than anticipated. Furthermore, the M4 High-Speed Tractor, introduced in 1943, proved better suited for towing heavy artillery across rough terrain than the Truck, Prime Mover, 6-ton, 6x6, Corbitt/White. As a result, many of these 6-ton prime movers were converted into workshop trucks with house bodies and into tanker trucks.
The Truck, Prime Mover, 6-ton, 6×6, Corbitt 50SD6 or White 666 is a must-have for collectors, diorama builders and wargamers who want to raise US Army field artillery units.
