Wiking 1:87 Scale Vehicle Review
The Wiking 1:87 scale Flugbetriebsstoff-Kesselkraftwagen (Sd.Kfz. 385) aviation fuel tanker of the Luftwaffe, on the chassis of the commercially available m.Lkw. (o) medium truck is an attractive model for dioramas and wargames. The model is mistakenly configured as an m.gl.Lkw. medium 4×4 truck. Wiking may have shied away from additional development costs here, and simply gave the aviation fuel tanker the same all-terrain suspension of their existing Opel Blitz 3 t truck (A-type) 4×4 (Wiking 3350).
The tanker truck (Sd.Kfz. 385) appears to have been produced in many military and civilian colour variations since the 1970s; it is frequently found at auctions and flea markets, even if it is not available as cheaply as a medium 4×2 cargo truck.
