Medium Mark A Whippet

1-87 World Tanks Depot 1:87 Scale Vehicle Review

Medium Mark A Whippet, 1:87 World Tanks Depot 37.

The 1-87 World Tanks Depot Medium Mark A Whippet is sold fully assembled and painted, ready to play. The tank is painted in a sand-coloured camouflage paint scheme, the equivalent of Tamiya XF-92 »Yellow Brown«. There are illustrations which show this exact vehicle painted olive green. The gun metal of the 0.303 Hotchkiss machine guns is unrealistically bright.

The Medium Mark A Whippet should actually be marked “A217 JULIAN’S BABY”, named after the Mark IV “113 Julian”, with whom she participated in high-profile fundraising campaigns in 1918.

Cast in white metal, this Medium Mark A Whippet weighs 102 g. Not a problem, if one or two models are to be used in a skirmish wargame, but the weight quickly adds up if an entire squadron of Whippets were to be deployed.

The vehicle still needs to be weathered, and it should be protected with a layer of clear varnish to reduce the risk of the enamel paint chipping off.

Compatible with HO scale model railway equipment and miniatures by Faller, Märklin, Noch, Pola, Preiser, ROCO, and Wespe Models.
